I would say maybe 4.2 to 4.3, because it truly is a fantastic signature sandwich and the size is respectable for being roughly a $10 sandwich, but the overall experience felt short of 4.5 or above. And it’s not even the wait time, because that’s actually kind of a part of the fun! Definitely builds of the experience, but just walking in, it just feels a little too simple and could use maybe a little more decor for some added ambiance. Unlike some of the more recent comments, I did not get any attitude from the associates, they were perfectly respectable. Thankfully you have a good amount of outdoor seating to enjoy the sandwich that you waited a decent amount of time for.

Best chicken sandwich (the only savory item). Be ready for take out or literally eat on the sidewalk. They sold out at 2pm. In summer we really enjoy the strawberry shortcake.

The most amazing Chicken and pastries!! I drive for miles to happily wait in line for a sandwich or salad. Popeyes and that Chick spot better recognize!!

Brilliant. Worth the wait. Limited menu of top-notch items. Killer deserts. Great staff. In decent weather, they run out and dance for the firefighters next door. You gotta see it.

Today I experienced the BEST fried chicken sandwich! The bread was so good, the chicken perfectly fried and the slaw on it was to die for! The shortbread chocolate chip cookie is a must to end this perfect meal. When in Oakland I have found my spot for lunch.

DELICIOUS! The chicken is crunchy, still moist inside... mmmm. The jalapeno coleslaw is a yummy cooling yet has that spice to keep ya coming back for more. Then those buns! Love brioche from Acme. The cookies are delicious too. Now from one pastry chef to another, I have to say bravo. The consistency of the cookies are amazing, not perfect but that keeps reminding you that yes, they are still hand made.

A local favorite. When I first noticed this place, it was a huge line (and it seems like they always have one).I know it is limited supply and once done, they are done for the day. Also limited times too.But the chicken sandwich is something that I truly enjoy. Spicy too!

Ah, how I have missed this. I'd like to go here instead often to find a pick me up of fried goodness every once in a while. I saw this instead in the Chase center lately but denied so I could return to the OG place. However using a line wrap around the front part of the institution at 1pmwe could receive our sandwiches at about 15 minutes time.

Simple menu: Chicken Sandwich with jalapeno coleslaw. Not terribly spicy, but came with great flavor. The molasses cookies are a great ending to the meal.

It is a good sandwich don’t get me wrong but mine had a bit too much slaw for my liking. The strawberry shortbread did shine through however
